Neurodiversity Works Awarded $40,000 Grant from the Trimble Foundation to Support Workforce Development Programs in Drones and Analytics for Neurodiverse Individuals
Commerce City, CO—August 14, 2024—Neurodiversity Works, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering neurodivergent individuals through innovative workforce development programs, has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the Trimble Foundation. This grant will enable the organization to continue its mission of equipping neurodiverse students with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in high-demand industries, such as the drone sector.
Founded in 2020, Neurodiversity Works addresses the significant employment barriers faced by neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. A staggering 40% of neurodivergent adults are unemployed—a rate threefold compared to the general disability population. The organization’s programs are designed to bridge this gap, fostering inclusion and innovation within the workforce by highlighting the unique strengths that neurodivergent individuals bring to the table.
The $40,000 grant from the Trimble Foundation will support Neurodiversity Works’ comprehensive workforce development initiatives, which include specialized training programs, mentorship, and hands-on learning opportunities. These initiatives have already made a significant impact, with more than 300 neurodiverse students across Colorado participating in workshops and training programs, several of whom successfully obtained their FAA Part 107 certification, a critical step towards careers in the drone industry.
"This generous grant from the Trimble Foundation is a vital investment in our mission to create pathways to
meaningful employment for neurodiverse individuals," said Nicole Corder, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Neurodiversity Works. "With these funds, we will continue to expand our programs, providing even more students with the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving job market."
Neurodiversity Works collaborates with local families, educational institutions, and industry partners to deliver its programs. The organization’s approach not only prepares neurodiverse individuals for the workforce but also challenges traditional perceptions of neurodiversity, advocating for a more inclusive and diverse professional environment.
The impact of Neurodiversity Works’ efforts is evident in the growing interest in their programs, with numerous students enrolling in training courses and participating in job shadowing opportunities. The Trimble Foundation’s support will further enable the organization to scale its initiatives, ensuring that more neurodiverse individuals have access to the resources and opportunities needed to achieve their full potential.
